Coral Reef – Necklace

[galleria width=”900″ height=”600″]

I just spent an amazing week in Corolla Beach, NC, surrounded by water, sun, sand and all the creatures of the Atlantic Ocean. This week’s necklace is a tribute to (once again) the greatest Creator and Artist of them all: Nature.

When I finished the necklace, I took it immediately to the beach to take some pictures of it next to its inspiration –the Ocean -. I guess the Atlantic DID like it, as it almost stole my necklace when a huge wave came unexpectedly all the way to where I placed it on the sand. I was extremely lucky that it gave it back to me with the next set of waves 😉

If you look closely, you’ll see some sand in the nooks and crannies that I haven’t been able to remove yet.  Happy summer 2010 to all of us!

Beach Fun – Necklace

[galleria width=”900″ height=”600″]

Most of my recent necklaces have been quite complex. Now, I LOVE each of them, but this week as I started to get excited about a trip we’re taking next week to a beach-town; this strong desire for making something SIMPLE, beach-y, fun, easy yet still beautiful (and UNIQUE!) came to me quite strongly.
Then I saw a picture of where we are going… this BEAUTIFUL beach and a lonely green chair looking at it…and CLICK!, a new necklace was born!. It was fun going back to basics and working with beads. I hope you get the breezy, relaxing feeling that I got when I created this piece.

My Pandora – Necklace

[galleria width=”900″ height=”600″]

I have a confession to make: I watched James Cameron’s “Avatar” 3 times.

Yes, I really liked the story, the characters and all that, but I LOVED the magic world of “Pandora”. This colorful, untouched, rebellious place where vegetation twisted and turned as it pleased, taking shapes and colors that didn’t follow the rules of the world. This necklace is my own little Pandora. No rules and boundaries were applied in its conception, just free shapes and lots of colors, and it reflects what I imagine my own little corner in Pandora would like like 😉

Water’s Promise – Necklace

[galleria width=”900″ height=”600″]

My sister-in-law invited us to Longwood Gardens for a wine and jazz festival just outside of Philly. It turned out to be an amazing reminder of nature’s beauty and the nurturing power of water! Seeing so man unique, colorful, flirty and rebellious flowers left me humbled by nature’s creativity. The next day, while walking through our beautiful building’s lobby, I saw THE most beautiful flower arrangement I had seen. I later learned that they were artistically put together by a local Philly flower store called “Pure”.

This necklace is a homage to the never-ending beauty of flowers. The small “water can” is meant to highlight that water IS the precious source that brings not only beauty but also life to all creatures alike.

Alien Bliss – Necklace

[galleria width=”800″ height=”533″]

The inspiration came from a gorgeous dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow that had this necklace’s color combination… so happy, strong and almost psychedelic. The energy of these colors pretty much drove the shapes, and almost “alien” forms of each part for this final piece. It suits my spirit today!

Experimentation – Bracelet

[galleria width=”800″ height=”533″]

I saw this exuberant fabric (that I made into the blouse in the picture) at a nearby sewing shop called “Spool“. When I saw it, an image of the bracelet that you see above appeared in my head. I had to make it! This is a very different piece from what I typically make, but it was an instinctive desire I had to fulfill. Not quite sure if I like it just yet, but here it is :-)
